Welcome to National Repository of Fish Cell Line (NRFC) |
The NRFC was established at ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow in the form of a research project entitled ‘Establishment of a National Repository at NBFGR, Lucknow for conservation and characterization of fish cell lines’ during 09 November, 2010 to 08 November, 2014 with the financial support from Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, New Delhi. NRFC aims to receive, authenticate, store and supply the fish cell lines to the researchers and academicians for Research & Development works and to serve as a National Referral Centre for fish cell lines in the country. NRFC also aims to provide need-based support for training and education to stakeholders. Presently, the NRFC is working with the following objectives: |
To develop/ acquire fish cell lines. |
To identify/ characterize/ validate fish cell lines using molecular and cytogenetic markers. |
To cryopreserve and maintain fish cell lines at ultra-low temperature (-196 ℃) and distribute the cell lines to researchers on request. |
The NRFC has state-of-art facility for development, characterization and maintenance of cell lines. Fish cell lines developed across the country have majorly been deposited in the NRFC and are being maintained at the cryopreservation facility. The facility is fully functional for catering the needs of researchers and academicians in the country. NRFC welcome all the Fish cell line developer to deposit their cell line for long term storage and wide publicity/ distribution to fellow researchers. |
