Karyological information
Record 1
Geographical area of study Acungui River (PR), Ribeira River Basin, Brazil.
Source of chromosomes Not reported
Number of specimens with sex 35 (17 males; 18 females)
Diploid chromosome number 54
Karyotype formula 22m+22sm+10st
Fundamental arm number 108
Chromosome length Not reported
Sex chromosome ZZ/ZW
Chromosome staining/banding/FISH Heterochromatin located at pericentromeric region of chromosomes 12, 23 and 25, at distal region of pair 23 and in faint blocks of other chromosomes. A heterochromatin heteromorphism was observed on long arms of just one homologue of the pair 24, restricted to females, suggesting the presence of a ZZ/ZW sex chromosome system. AgNOR located at interstitial region on long arms of the st pair 23. The 18S and 5S rDNAs were located in syntenic and adjacent. rDNA present in st pair 23, with interstitial 18S rDNA and distal 5SrDNA on long arms.

Record 2
Geographical area of study Marumbi River, Brazil.
Source of chromosomes Kidney tissues.
Number of specimens with sex -
Diploid chromosome number 54
Karyotype formula 20m+20sm+14st
Fundamental arm number -
Chromosome length -
Sex chromosome -
Chromosome staining/banding/FISH Single 18S rDNA signal observed in interstitial position of long arm of st chromosome pair 21. Large size polymorphism of the 18S rDNA loci suggests a duplication of this gene in the active Ag-NOR chromosome.
