Chromosome length -
Sex chromosome ZZ/ZW sex chromosomes system present. Z is submetacentric. W is metacentric, twice as large as Z.
Chromosome staining/banding/FISH Single Ag-NOR pair located at tip of short arms of a small metacentric pair, probably pair 14. C-bands present in most chromosomes, presence of interstitial and terminal C-positive bands. A large heterochromatic block present on half-distal part of long arms of W chromosome in female metaphases, a similar band absent in Z chromosome. 18S rDNA probe present on a small metacentric pair, coinciding with Ag-NOR. 5S rDNA signal located on same chromosome pair, just below 18S, in syntenic condition.
