Services

Acquisition and Distribution of cell lines
Deposition of cell lines
Researchers involved in development of fish cell lines can submit their cell lines to the repository for effective maintenance, cryopreservation and distribution of their cell lines to other researchers for R and D work. Depositors are requested to download the agreement and deposit forms from the website and send the flask along with the forms to the Director, NBFGR/Head, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Division, NBFGR, Lucknow.
Distribution of cell lines
The fish cell lines are available for distribution to the researchers. Researchers are required to download the request form and agreement form from the NRFC, NBFGR website. Completely filled form may bemailed tothe Director, NBFGR/Head, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Division, NBFGR, Lucknowto request the desired fish cell lines.
Charges levied for distribution of cell lines
1.Delivery by courier: Rs.1000/- per flask of one cell line.
2.Delivery in person: Rs. 750/- per flask of one cell line.
Researcher should submit a demand draft drawn in favour of "ICAR Unit NBFGR" payable at Lucknow.
Authentication
NRFC offers the facility for authentication of cell lines through sequence analysis of 16S-rRNA and mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I gene (COI) and through chromosomal analysis of the cell line. The institute also offers the facility for development of Protein expression signatures through 2-DE technique.
Sterility Testing

NRFC offers service for sterility testing. Cell lines can be submitted for sterility testing to determine if microbial contamination is present. Sterility testing of culture media is done by isolation of microbes in suitable media as given below:

    • Mycoplasma is detected through fluorescent staining by DAPI.
    • Aerobic and anaerobic bacteria are detected in Fluid thioglycollate medium (FTM).
    • Aerobes, facultative anaerobes and fungi are detected in Tryptose soya broth (TSB).
Cryopreservation
NRFC offers the researchers to submit the cell line for cryopreservation in liquid nitrogen for long term and effective storage of the cell lines.
Training

NRFC upon request may provide training in basic cell culture techniques to the researchers interested in cell culture work. The researcher(s) interested for training in below mentioned techniques may send their request  to the Director/Head, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Division.

      • Sterilization
      • Primary culture
      • Subculture
      • Characterization
      • Cryopreservation
