Karyological information
Record 1
Geographical area of study Agua da Floresta river, part of the Tibagi river basin, Parana, Brazil
Source of chromosomes Kidney
Number of specimens with sex 13 (08 males; 04 females; 01 undetermined)
Diploid chromosome number 52
Karyotype formula 8M+22SM+10ST+12A
Fundamental arm number 92
Chromosome length Not reported
Sex chromosome Not reported
Chromosome staining/banding/FISH Ag-NORs were present on the short arms of a single sm chromosome pair. Constitutive heterochromatin was detected on most chromosomes in the centromeric region, CMA3 positive signals and 18S rRNA genes were located on the short arms of sm chromosomes equivalent to the Ag-NORs, 5S rDNA genes wer located on the long arms of a sm chromosome pair.

Record 2
Geographical area of study Iguaçu River, Lower Iguaçu River basin (State of Paraná), Brazil.
Source of chromosomes Kidney.
Number of specimens with sex 4 (1 male, 3 female)
Diploid chromosome number 52
Karyotype formula 10m+10sm+16st+16a
Fundamental arm number 88
Chromosome length -
Sex chromosome -
Chromosome staining/banding/FISH Single Ag-NOR present in terminal region of short arm of acrocentric chromosomes pair 22, and confirmed by 18S rDNA-FISH. C-banding showed heterochromatin in pericentromeric region of almost all chromosomes, in addition to revealing conspicuous blocks in terminal region of chromosome pairs corresponding to NORs.

Record 3
Geographical area of study Ijuí River, Upper Uruguay River basin (State of Rio Grande do Sul), Brazil.
Source of chromosomes Kidney.
Number of specimens with sex 9 (4 male, 5 female)
Diploid chromosome number 52
Karyotype formula 10m+16sm+14st+12a
Fundamental arm number 92

Chromosome staining/banding/FISH AgNOR present on chromosome pairs 21, 25 and 26. C-bands present in pericentromeric region of almost all chromosomes, as well as conspicuous blocks associated with NORs.
