Remarks
Karyological information
Geographical area of study Specimens were collected in rivers from the localities namely Igarape´ Mato Grosso (Novo Aira˜o, AM) and Aiana˜ (AM).
Source of chromosomes
Number of specimens with sex 12 (7 males, 4 females, 1 undefined)
Diploid chromosome number 50
Karyotype formula 50m-sm
Fundamental arm number 100
Chromosome length Not reported
Sex chromosome Not reported
Chromosome staining/banding/FISH Constitutive heterochromatin (CH) was observed in the centromeric and pericentromeric regions of all chromosomes, and also as small bands on the proximal long arms of pairs 2, 3, 5 and 7. Nucleolar organizer regions (NORs) were identified in the distal region of the short arms of 14 and the CMA3 fluorochrome coincided with the NORs. The DAPI fluorochrome (specific to A-T rich regions) coincided with the CH.
