Blochii, Systema Ichthyologiae; [Otaheitee] Tahiti, Society Islands, French Polynesia, South Pacific. No types known. Synonym: Epinephelus hexagonatus (Forster, 1801), Holocentrus hexagonatus Forster, 1801, Serranus hexagonatus (Forster, 1801), Ephinephelus hexagonatus (Forster, 1801), Epinephalus hexagonatus (Forster, 1801), Epinephelus hexagonathus (Forster, 1801), Serranus parkinsonii Valenciennes, 1828, Serranus stellans Richardson, 1842, Epinephelus stellans (Richardson, 1842) Order: Perciformes Family: Serranidae Distribution: Kerala and Vizagapatnam coast. India: Known from the Laccadives and Port Blair in Andaman region. Indo-West Pacific: none have been taken on the African coast, except for the specimen recorded by Randall and Heemstra 1991 from Kenyan coast north of Kilifi Creek.
